This is a 4-star hotel in the centre of Hilversum. For both the demanding business and leisure traveller, this hotel is the place to be, just 20 minutes from Amsterdam.

Grand Hotel Cafe Gooiland is 4-star hotel located in the heart of the broadcasting town, Hilversum. The Gooiland building is a famous monument built in 1936.

You will find all of the facilities that you need, including a hotel with diverse facilities such as parking facilities, conference rooms, Grand Cafe Restaurant Duiker, a discotheque, a theatre, an ice cream parlour and a Japanese restaurant.

Dudok en Duiker offers many possibilities for sightseeing and pleasant trip, including the woods, heather, botanical gardens and the variety of architectonic constructions from, amongst others. Of course, Hilversum has many museums and there are also opportunities for bike rides, water sports or a visit to the picturesque towns and villages, such as Naarden-Vesting and Loenen a/d Vecht. Furthermore, Hilversum has a modernised and extensive shopping area.

That it's located in the centre of Hilversum. The employee at the reception desk was very friendly.

I do not consider this hotel as a 4 stars hotel in comparison to others. The interior is very old and looks used. The descriptions on booking.com and on the hotel's website are not up-to-date (the terrace for example is not existing anymore). The breakfast was not 4-stars aswell.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

The breakfasts were very expensive, especially as we only had coffee and cereal. We felt the price for this was much too high.

The sound insulation of the windows is very poor. They are not even double glass!! Furthermore, the room looked shabby. Wall paper loosening, the small round table was not stable and had a hole in it. The hotel, although 4 stars need certainly some revamping/refresshing.

The friendliness of the person at the reception

The picture and description of the hotel did not match the current status of the hotel. While the hotel is said to have 4 stars, this should not be the case: really old, the window could not be closed, the door handle was broken, etc.

Helpful hotel staff

Old fashioned, single glazed windows (throughout, as far as I could tell) making the place chilly in the colder weather. I turned the haeting up in my room and the next evening I arrived back to a cold environment again as the service staff had dropped the regulator down again. Next morning I requested the setting of the heating should not be reduced. Result - all windows were left open! NG!!
